FIASCO presents JASON HODGES (OM Records, Toronto)@ The Admiral, 72a Waterloo Street, Glasgow, UK

Yet another month swings in, and with it the boys at Fiasco bring us yet another underground house legend, Jaon Hodges!
Having settled into their new residence at The Admiral on Waterloo Street, Ed-FM and Frazer Devine are more than happy to be spinning alongside one of their favourite producers and remixer.

Hailing from Toronto in Canada, Jason brings with him an oustanding musical resume. Starting out in the early nineties he established his trademark style of mixing spinning at warehouse parties and also started releasing on small independant record labels.
Since then he has moved on in leaps and bounds and has now done work on such labels as OOMPH! Magnetic and the ever faithful Om records, and having a fan base that includes the likes of DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter and Mark Fairna, you know that your in for something special tonight at Fiasco!!

I know where i'll be!

Doors open at 22.30 and its a mere £6 before 23.00, £8 after.
The deep gooves and jackin beats go on till three!

JACKHAMMER presents MARCO BAILEY @ The Caves, Niddry Street South, Cowgate, Edinburgh, UK

In the East tonight if you're lookin for something a bit harder than house you could do a lot worse than pop into The Caves where Belgian techno legend MARCO BAILEY will be rockin the Jackhammer faithful once again. Marco is one of Belgiums very best producers and DJ. His tracks have been used by Dave Clarke on his highly acclaimed World Service CD. Since then, his record company MB Records has gone from strength to strength and his DJ Career has flourished making him one of the hardest DJ's to book. Jackhammer has very fortunately secured him once again for a night at THE CAVES.

TROUBLE's 7TH BIRTHDAY PARTY AND FAREWELL FINALE
pt 1 @ Cabaret Voltaire, 36 Blair Street, Edinburgh, UK

This weekend night marks the end of an era for Edinburgh clubbing institution TROUBLE with the first part of their Birthday finale featuring a live set from Joe Acheson Quartet.

We've been putting Joe and his band on since they first started out as a trio. They supported the mighty Jaga Jazzist (Ninja Tune) at our first ever Glenfiddich Independent Mix night in March 2005. Expect an exclusive dance set from the band as they focus on their heavier, more upbeat material for the Trouble birthday, with the critically acclaimed Maja Borg joining Ivan Torres Hdez on VJ duties and Su-A Lee (SCO/McFall's) appearing as guest cellist.

'We couldn't possibly do justice to their enveloping acoustic/digital live performance in here. Quite like nothing else on the Edinburgh scene or elsewhere, they really must be sampled to be believed.' (The List)

SATURDAY 11TH APRIL 2009

TROUBLE's 7TH BIRTHDAY PARTY AND FAREWELL FINALE, Pt2 @ Voodoo Rooms, West Register Street Edinburgh, Pt 3 @ The Jazz Cellar, Chamber Street, Edinburgh.

Trouble continue their Birthday/Finale weekender with 2 musical heavyweights Horace Andy and Ashley Beedle.

"We jumped at the chance to work with Horace Andy, THE voice of Massive Attack's classic 1991 debut album, Blue Lines, and a Jamaican/reggae LEGEND in his own right. DJ/producer Ashley Beedle is most famous for his work with the Ivor Novello winning X-Press 2 but we've also loved his more leftfield Nineties dance productions under the Black Science Orchestra and Ballistic Brothers monikers and these days he's a busy remix artist, producer and DJ, who will be recognised immediately by regulars at Edinburgh's awesome Ultragroove house night."

Part 3 of the celebrations will take place at Chambers Street's Jazz Cellar with the Saturday Night Fish Fry show. This after party of sorts will also feature live music from Edinburgh band FOUND as well as support from the Trouble djs.

"Similarly we’ve been working with Found since they played an early Edinburgh gig for Trouble's GIM night at Cab in 2005. Since then they've expanded to a quintet and are now one of the most successful and critically acclaimed Edinburgh bands on the Scottish circuit and have - for some time now - been adding international live dates to a diary that's already brimming with shows up and down the UK. The mighty Found play the Fish Fry following their away-gig in Austin, Texas at industry hoe-down South By South West, in March, so this will effectively be their homecoming gig."

'Edinburgh’s Found both look and sound more and more like a band ready for proper success.' (The Scotsman)

Easter Sunday 12th April 2009

Ultragroove Easter Special featuring JIMPSTER and YOGI HAUGHTON @ The Cabaret Voltaire, 36 Blair Street, Edinburgh, UK

Edinburgh's longest running house music emporium are throwing their annual Easter Sunday spectacular once again and this time they've roped in the mighty Jimpster as well as local soul legend Yogi Haughton.

His seminal Jimpster LP Messages From The Hub (1997), as well as his more dancefloor orientated Audiomontage 12”s really helped establish Jamie as an artist of some merit and he quickly became in regular demand as a remixer (over 65 at the last count!) and co producer on a wide range of underground projects. His third Jimpster LP Amour was released 3 years ago on Freerange to excellent critical acclaim and appeared in numerous published Top 20 LP's of the year charts. In recent years he has released his first original track for another label, choosing Ben Watt’s Buzzin’ Fly for Square Up which became a big underground house track sitting in the top 5 of DJ Mag’s Hype Chart for 2 months. Recent artists to get the Jimpster midas touch in the form of a remix include Osunlade, Bob Marley, Joris Voorn, Seal, Mark Knight & Funkagenda, Marc Romboy, Solomun…. The list goes on.

Jamie "Jimpster" has built up his reputation as a highly regarded dj in the UK and around the world. With an emphasis on the deeper end of electronic house music, but not afraid to stray from the path, he retains an old school approach that has seen him booked for gigs as diverse as Fabric (London), Panarama Bar (Berlin), Cocoon (Frankfurt), Cielo (NYC), Yellow (Tokyo), Pacha (Ibiza), Crystal (Istanbul), GOA (Madrid) and Back To Basics (Leeds). He also runs the monthly Freerange night as his London residency at AKA.

He is also a member of highly acclaimed live outfit The Bays, whose recent performances on John Peel sessions have confirmed them as one of the most important live acts around today. Their spontaneous and totally improvised gigs have been building up a buzz with recent headlining gigs including many of the worlds best festivals such as Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Womad, Lowlands, Bestival and many others.

He will of course be supported by the ever moody Gareth Sommervile who, if you know your house, is a legend in his own right.

Yogi Haughto
n's credentials as a dance music lothario are world renowned. As owner of the largest collection of MOBO tunage in the UK his sets at some of the biggest soul music events such as SOUTHPORT WEEKENDER are the stuff of legend. He is also credited with bringing house and techno music to Scotland way back in the eighties. A party machine and all round good egg he's the perfect choice for backroom duties at Easter Ultragroove.
